2021 Tennessee Residency Showcase
The Tennessee Society of Health-System Pharmacists (TSHP) and the Tennessee Pharmacists Association (TPA) are pleased to announce the 7th Annual Tennessee Residency Showcase for prospective residency candidates (all student pharmacists graduating in 2022 or 2023, as well as pharmacists interested in completing a PGY1 or PGY2 residency or fellowship) and residency/fellowship programs!
Our Annual Residency Showcase is unique in providing an opportunity for prospective residents/fellows to meet face-to-face with residency program directors from Tennessee and surrounding states. The challenges posed by the pandemic shouldn’t prevent you from finding your perfect residency program match, so we’re providing you with a solution to make it happen. Like last year, the 2021 Showcase will be held VIRTUALLY over the course of two days—September 21-22—to provide time for you to meet with your prospective matches.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE? |
Prospective residency candidates (all student pharmacists graduating in 2022 or 2023, as well as pharmacists interested in completing a PGY1 or PGY2 residency or fellowship) are invited and encouraged to take advantage of this unique opportunity to meet with representatives from residency/fellowship programs in and around Tennessee, to learn about their programs and how they could help you achieve your goals. Also, start each day off with an educational session designed to prepare you to meet the challenges of residency interviews and future job opportunities.
Representatives of residency/fellowship programs in Tennessee and surrounding states are invited to take advantage of the opportunity to meet prospective residents/fellows and familiarize them with your program. With the uncertainty surrounding residency showcase opportunities in the future, this event is a great opportunity to get your program in front of prospective residency candidates from Tennessee and other states. Early registration is strongly recommended, as last year’s Virtual Residency Showcase sold out for residency programs.

WHAT TO EXPECT… |
…DURING THE EVENT
Each participating residency program will present to prospective candidates twice over the course of the virtual Showcase, in 30-minute sessions. During the sessions, representatives from each participating residency program will describe the program, present its benefits, and answer questions. Prospective residents will gain valuable insights into the program and have an opportunity to participate in interactive Q&A with residency representatives. Prospective residency candidates can participate in any of the four concurrent sessions and move between presentations when they have the information they need.
This interactive and fast-paced format will allow residency programs to maximize their time and also provide prospective candidates with valuable “face time” with program directors and representatives.
Hosted on the Zoom platform, sessions will be initiated and managed by TPA staff. Presenters and prospective residency candidates will communicate with one another face-to-face, and the presenter will be be able to share information on his or her screen. While only presenters will be unmuted at the beginning of each session, participants will be allowed to ask questions, and exchanges between participants and presenters are strongly encouraged.
…BEFORE THE EVENT
Be sure to submit the requested information before the deadline provided, to ensure that it is uploaded in time. |
In the days after they register, residency program representatives will be asked to select the times they prefer for their two 30-minute presentations. They will also be asked to submit specific program information that TPA will share with participating prospective residency candidates before the event.
Likewise, prospective residency candidates will be asked to submit specific information (such as education, experience, etc.) that TPA will share with participating residency programs before the event. In addition, prospective residency candidates will be asked (but not required) to allow TPA to share their contact information with participating residency programs, to facilitate communications after the event.
Before the event, all registered residency programs and prospective residency candidates will receive an agenda with the specific times of each residency program’s presentations.
