DEA Knoxville Pharmacy Diversion Awareness Conference, March 22 & 23

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will be hosting a one-day Pharmacy Diversion Awareness Conference (PDAC) in Knoxville, Tenn., on Saturday and Sunday, March 22 & 23, 2014, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This is actually a one-day conference that is repeated on the second day, to give those who would like to attend another option, if the first day is not convenient for them.
DEA has requested that TPA provide our member pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with its invitation letter and detailed program information. Seating is limited at these conferences, and it is recommended you register as early as possible.
The diversion of pharmaceutical controlled substances is a growing problem that stems from various sources. In addition to pharmacy robberies and thefts, pharmaceutical controlled substances are often diverted by way of forged prescriptions, doctor shoppers, or illegitimate prescriptions from rogue practitioners. The conference is designed to assist pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and loss prevention specialists in identifying and preventing the diversion of pharmaceutical controlled substances.
