MAC Legislation PASSES UNANIMOUSLY in Full House and Full Senate!

On Monday, April 14, 2014, the full Senate and full House considered and passed SB1991 and HB1554 respectively. Passed with Amendment #015578 without a single vote of opposition – 29-0 in the Senate and 98-0 in the House – the legislation regulates the use of maximum allowable cost (MAC) lists by pharmacy benefits managers (PBMs) and covered entities, to ensure that the MAC pricing system is fair to both pharmacists and PBMs. The result of many months of dedicated work, the legislation now goes to Governor Haslam to be signed into law.
A summary of the MAC legislation can be found here.
